Pique chants "Catalan referendum"

Barcelona player Gerard Pique has called on citizens of Catalonia to express their opinion "peacefully" until the referendum on independence, scheduled for October 1.

"From Sunday until Sunday, we will pass peacefully, our voices will rise louder and stronger," the Barcelona defender wrote in a tweet on Twitter, adding a name in Catalan, "Votarem", meaning "we will vote."

It is not the first time that Pique has expressed support for the right to hold a referendum on the secession of the territory in northeastern Spain, although he has never expressed support for independence.
